Artist Residencies Available

The Mountain View Artist Residency is open to all professional musicians, artists and writers. Applications are ongoing. Situated 4 kilometres south of Sundre, Alberta on the banks of the Red Deer River, the house and surrounding forest and river provide solitude, creativity and inspiration in an idyllic rural environment.

 

About the program

 

Musicians, writers and artists who are selected for a residency are housed in the main house on the grounds.

The house can accommodate two working artists and two additional non-working occupants with advance notice. 

 

There is also a music studio/ writing studio available. Also available is a Bosendorfer Imperial Concert Grand, and a two piano studio separate from the house.

 

What you need to know

 

The property is situated outside of Sundre in a lovely rural setting and is completely modern, with all the amenities. 

There is a grocery store in Sundre 4 km from the house as well as all other necessities.

 

Residency Bookings run from Sunday to Sunday.
 

The Main House

Can accommodate 1-2 people or 1 to 2 couples. The house is fully equipped with a complete kitchen, two showers, a claw foot tub, bedding and towels are provided.

Washer/dryer,dishwasher, microwave, fridge, and wireless internet.

Water is from the underground well, perfectly healthy for drinking.

The Two Piano Studio
 

This is an ideal place to rehearse and prepare two piano recitals and priority will be given to pianists. This small studio is also a perfect writer’s retreat.

How to Apply

The length of a Residency is open to availability. Generally 5-7 days but longer or shorter stays may be arranged. 

Residencies will begin at 1pm on the first day and end at noon on the last day.

 

Applicants are requested to choose their preferred dates and duration of stay. 

Residents who wish to return for another residency are encouraged to apply.

 

Applications are ongoing and based on availability. The Mountain View International Festival of Song and Chamber Music Society only accepts online application packages.

The Music House is owned and operated by Charles Foreman and Kathleen van Mourik and they have donated the use of  their concert venue and studio  to the International Festival of Song and Chamber Music Society for artist/music residencies. Donations are accepted through the International Festival of Song and Chamber Music Society.
